JOANIE AND THE GENIE

Joanie met a genie in her own backyard
She kicked a can, didn't even kick it hard
When out from the can jumped a weird old man
With a silver beard and a golden tan
Said his name was Stan

He said, "I've been trapped since way back when
Recycled and crushed and recycled again
And you at last have set me free
I'm here to grant you wishes three."
Then the genie said,

Zamma-lamma-dong-ding
Magic is a fine thing
Zamma-lamma-ding-dong
Every now and then it comes along
Magic

Anybody would have been so excited
Joanie sneered and said, "I don't buy it!
Genies come from rubbing lamps
Not from kicking crummy cans!
What kind of fool do you think I am?"
And the genie said,

Zamma-lamma-dong-ding
Magic is a fine thing
Zamma-lamma-ding-dong
Every now and then it comes along
You better grab it
Before it jumps down a hole
Like a little white rabbit
Magic

Joanie said, "And how come it's only three?
I want five wishes! I want fifty!
So many things that I could use
Like chocolate cake... or bright red shoes… or..."
Joanie didn’t say another word
As lightening cracked and thunder stirred
The genie smiled and said "Complete!"
The cake was on the lawn
The shoes were on her feet

Zamma-lamma-dong-ding
Magic is a fine thing
Zamma-lamma-ding-dong
Every now and then it comes along
You better grab it
When it’s gone
You’re gonna think back hard
To the moment you had it
Magic
Magic

"You have now one more wish remaining
And no extra wishes! That's in my training."
Joanie said, "I know what you can do...
Make me a genie just like you!”
As the last word left her lips
Thunder roared and lightening ripped
And there in Joanie’s little hand
Was a teeny weeny doll
of a Genie named Stan

Zamma-lamma-dong-ding
Magic is a fine thing
Zamma-lamma-ding-dong
Every now and then it comes along
You better grab it
When it’s gone
You’re gonna think back hard
To the moment you had it
Magic
Magic
Magic
